Four Ridged Toad @ McRitchie Reservoir
These toads are actually quite common around McRitchie Resevoir. While their call can be heard loud and clear, finding them is another story. And taking a picture... In this case, I placed a plastic sheet on the wet forest floor so that I could lie down to be at level with the animal. Then I made a really silly mistake, I zoomed in by moving the lens closer to the critter, forgetting that I was using a macro zoom lens... (70-180mm macro). To soften the flash light, a small Lastolite diffuser was held between the flash and the subject.
