Caught Napping

As it is nap time, I'll be taking a short break as well, hopefully bringing back some interesting images from a trip to the rain forest of Sabah / Malaysia.

The Roof of the Temple

Under Singapore hot and humid climate, all forms of plant life made their home of the roof of this Buddhist temple.

Portrait of a Painted Stork

Portrait of a painted stork at the Jurong Bird Park. Interestingly, these birds are actually free to roam if they want to. Some do fly a few rounds and come back to their favourite location within the park.

Four Ridged Toad @ McRitchie Reservoir

These toads are actually quite common around McRitchie Resevoir. While their call can be heard loud and clear, finding them is another story. And taking a picture... In this case, I placed a plastic sheet on the wet forest floor so that I could lie down to be at level with the animal. Then I made a really silly mistake, I zoomed in by moving the lens closer to the critter, forgetting that I was using a macro zoom lens... (70-180mm macro). To soften the flash light, a small Lastolite diffuser was held between the flash and the subject.

Night Drive through the Rain

Waiting at the traffic light, the camera was ready for a test shot. Not too bad. The focus on the windshield turns all the lights that are further away into colourful dots.

Singapore Green City

This old tree appears larger than the buildings behind it due to the false perspective created by the wide angle shot (14mm on full frame camera). Singapore city planners can be proud of the majestic trees they managed to save even within the busiest part of town. They bring welcoming shade and a sense of peacefullness to the city.
