The Apsaras - Cambodia


Apsaras are divine nymphs or celestial dancing girls from the Indian mythology. It was (is) believed that they could be used by the gods as agents to seduce or persuade mythological demons.

Over 3'000 carvings of apsaras can be found within the temple of Angkor Wat alone. Each of them is unique.

Ta Keo Temple - Cambodia


According to some inscriptions, the Ta Keo temple was struck by lightning at the time of its construction. Seen as a bad omen, it was never completed. Some historian state that the likely cause of its non-completion was the death of its patron, Jayavarman V.

The Psar Chaa Market is located 2 blocks away from Pub Street, where most restaurants patronised by tourists are located. While souvenir stalls are facing the street, the back lanes feature a wet market, almost tourists free.
