Kluang train station

Waiting area and sign.

Clearly the sign was never updated as express trains do stop at Kluang station. At least I well wish so as the ticket I am holding is to board an express train... It did stop, and for at least 10 minutes!

Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque - Johor Bahru

The mosque was built between 1892 and 1900 under the direction of Sultan Abu Bakar. His anglophile sentiments are clearly visible in the colonial English Victorian architecture of the building, with the minarets designed in the form of British 19th century clock towers.

Bridge over the Marina

Keppel Bay Vista bridge by the Marina at Keppel Bay. Interestingly, I was not allowed to take pictures of the boat at anchorage with the Reflection @ Keppel Bay in the backgound as a self important security guard stopped me and informed me that "pictures with DSLR are not allowed for security reasons". In my mind I thought that I should go back, use a quality point and shoot, stitch up a high resolution panorama out of 20 images and post it on the net... While we had planned to have a meal at the Marina, we changed our plan as we were clearly not welcomed.

The National Library

Another shot at the interesting architecture of the National Library of Singapore. The "wings" structures (left) are engineered to block direct sun and yet let light and breeze pass through. A method to keep the building cool in quasi equatorial climate.

Armenian Church of Singapore

The Armenian Apostolic Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator is the first Christian church built in Singapore in 1835.

The vaulted ceiling and cupola are based on traditional Armenian Church architecture.

Within the quiet tropical garden surrounding the church lie tomb markings of Armenians who died in Singapore.  The tombstones were transported here in the early 1970’s from the Bukit Timah Cemetery.

Chinese Garden - Singapore

The two little pagodas and the setting fun fighting to pierce through heavy clouds.  We could hear the thunder and observe flashes of lightning. Altough the rain did not show.

As the sun set, the Singapore flag is lowered on board the stealth frigate RSS "Intrepid". Is that a dragon in the sky?
